Faridabad/Alive News : Bharatanatyam is one among the foremost common classical Indian dances. It has a history of over 2,000 years old and is famous the world over. Malvika Krishnan, Class 11th student of Step by Step School, Noida has been learning Bharatanatyam from French Canadian Bharatanatyam exponent Marie Elangovan, and noted Guru Elangovan Govindarajan for over 10 years at Parampara Centre for Indian Classical Music and Dance. As a member she has performed at various prestigious venues across the country.
Currently she is pursuing a degree in Bharatanatyam from Pracheen Kala Kendra and has completed the fourth year examination, Visharad 1. Malvika was always captivated by dance. Her mother introduced and recommended her to take up Bharatanatyam when she was in Class 3rd. She also recently performed her Arangetram, which marks completion of training in Bharatanatyam.
Speaking on her, eminent classical dancer and choreographer, Kathak Guru Padmashri Dr. Shovana Narayan, said, “Malvika is an amazing dancer. She has it in her to emerge as one of the most successful proponents of Bharatanatyam in future. It is possible only with the help and support of her parents.” Dr. Narayan had also attended her Arangetram. She arrived before inauguration and stayed till the very end.
Malvika intends to continue her dedication to Bharatanatyam and strive towards promoting it amongst today’s youth. Additionally, after 12th she intends to pursue her management. She also is a gifted pianist.
