VC Prof. Dinesh Kumar launched ‘Danfos Innovator Project Award’ at YMCA for year 2016

YMCAFaridabad/ Alive News: With a view to promote innovation and creativity among students, the Vice-Chancellor of YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad, Prof. Dinesh Kumar has launched ‘Danfos Innovator Project Award’ for year 2016 which would be given to the students for their innovative projects in the area of climate and energy. A sum of Rs. 6.25 lakh will be given away as cash prizes for first three places in two different categories.
Meanwhile, dean of the Institutions Prof. Sandeep Grover, Chairperson of Mechanical Department Prof. M.L. Aggarwal, Training and Placement Officer Dr. Vikram Singh, officials of Danfoss Mr. Kiran Kumar, Mr. Ravi Kumar and Mr. Hareesha Shetty were also present on this occasion.
The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the efforts made by the University officials for making such industrial tie-up for the promotion of excellence in higher studies and motivation of students. He said that University is keen to boost such kind of collaboration for the benefit of students. The University is also looking to expand such agreements in the coming years for promoting excellence in Science and Technology.
While giving information in this regard, Dr. Arvind Gupta, Incharge, Industry-Academia Interaction Affair said that the Danfoss Innovator Project Award is an intercollegiate competition designed for final year students in Under Graduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) courses, who have an interest in ‘creating futuristic solutions’ that have the potential to be impactful in the areas of climate and energy.
Dr. Gupta said the awards have been divided into two categories – Under Gradate (UG) and Post-Graduate (PG) in which B.Tech and M.Tech final year students from all streams could participate. In UG Category, the winners would receive cash prize of Rs. 1, 50,000 as first prize, 75,000 as second prize and Rs. 50,000 as third prize. Similarly, in PG category, the winners would receive cash prizes worth Rs. 2,00,000 as first prize, Rs. 1, 00,000 as second prize and Rs. 50,000 as third prize. The prize money was aimed at encouraging the winning teams to develop the prototype of their award winning ideas, he added.
